Bye-Bye, Sarah Palin

From US News and World Report:  Bye-Bye, Sarah Palin

Sarah Palin's days as a paid commentator for Fox News are over. This will mean a serious decline in media exposure for the former Alaska governor, and it raises doubts whether she can rise again to the level of a conservative national icon.
Palin says she was tired of preaching "to the choir" at Fox and wants a bigger platform. But chances are that she will never recover the extraordinary fame she enjoyed when she was named John McCain's vice presidential running mate on the Republican ticket in 2008. She drew huge audiences and vast media coverage, but many Americans concluded that Palin didn't know enough about the issues to be vice president.
After the 2008 election, Fox gave her a national platform as a commentator and for a while she retained a loyal following. But without a political office, a compelling message, or fresh ideas, Palin's stock sank and by the end of the 2012 presidential campaign she was not a factor.

She didn't elaborate on her plans, but Palin does have a political action committee that has $1.2 million in the bank, and she can use that money to travel and donate to conservative candidates. She told Breitbart.com, a conservative web site, that she still wants to "shake up the GOP machine."

She said, "I encourage others to step out in faith, jump out of the comfort zone, and broaden our reach as believers in American exceptionalism. That means broadening our audience. I'm taking my own advice here as I free up opportunities to share more broadly the message of the beauty of freedom and the imperative of defending our republic and restoring this most exceptional nation. We can't just preach to the choir. The message of liberty and true hope must be understood by a larger audience."

Palin, 48, also declared, "I was raised to never retreat and to pick battles wisely, and all in due season. When it comes to defending our republic, we haven't begun to fight."

Regarding the 2012 election, she was typically defiant. "Conservatism didn't lose," Palin said. "A moderate Republican candidate lost after he was perceived to alienate working class Reagan Democrat and independent voters who didn't turn out for him as much as they did for the McCain-Palin ticket in 2008."
Palin was paid an estimated salary of $1 million a year by Fox.

Chuck Heath Jr., Sarah Palin's Brother, Slams American Political 'Mess,' Proposes New Party

From HuffPost:  Chuck Heath Jr., Sarah Palin's Brother, Slams American Political 'Mess,' Proposes New Party

Chuck Heath, Jr., brother of former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, hinted he'd support the creation of a new political party featuring "persons of every race, religion, economic status, and whoever else is interested."
Health Jr. took to Facebook Monday to make the proposal:
"Let’s face it. As it stands now, it’s impossible to be elected to a high national office without being a part of the Republican or Democratic Party. I propose that the disgruntled citizens of the United States… Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians… persons of every race, religion, economic status, and whoever else is interested, join together and form a new party. I’d simply call it, the American Party."
Heath Jr. called America's current political system "a mess" and said it's causing the country to become "unraveled at the seams."
"The divisiveness between Republicans and Democrats seems insurmountable and it’s getting worse every day," he wrote.
He also stuck up for his sister, who he said has been "viciously attacked" because she wouldn't play the "very dirty game" of politics.
"She has always stuck to her principles and because of that, she is viewed as a threat," Heath Jr. wrote. "I’ve watched people in both major parties do everything they can to demean and destroy her."
Palin's brother isn't the first of the 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate's family members to make recent headlines. Her daughter Bristol was in the news after she obtained a temporary restraining order against a man who allegedly sent her an engagement ring and a knife in the mail, and her son and sister-in-law are both going through divorces.

Posts resume Thursday

I know I've been saying this periodically but this will be the last time I say it...I'm visiting relatives and although they have Wi fi I don't have a private room to work.

I'll be home Thursaday and will get back into the swing of things then.

No headlines on Sarah Palin this year...

I don't know if that's because there aren't any, or because Google's new News search engine revamp sucks, but I've got nothing.

Will keep searching.

Palin Divorce: Sarah Palin's Sister-In-Law, Wendy, Splits From Husband

From HuffPost:  Palin Divorce: Sarah Palin's Sister-In-Law, Wendy, Splits From Husband

arah Palin's son, Track Palin, isn't the only member of the family who is calling it quits on his marriage.
According to TMZ, her sister-in-law Wendy separated from husband James Palin in July after 12 years of marriage. James and Todd Palin -- Sarah Palin's husband -- are brothers.
The estranged pair is now in the midst of resolving a custody dispute over their 10-year-old daughter.
Earlier this month, Track Palin filed for divorce from his high school sweetheart, Britta Hanson, after less than two years of marriage. The former couple has already decided how to split their property and custody of their 1-year-old daughter. Track will keep his gun collection and a $30,000 bank account, while Hanson will walk away with her jewelry collection and a $2,500 bank account.
